SILEBY CEMETERY STATEMENT

Submitted on 06 April 2018 by Julie Lovatt

Sileby Parish Council is deeply saddened about the anguish caused to all families affected by the Public Notice regarding unauthorised memorials at Sileby Cemetery. The Clerk and Deputy Clerk have endeavoured to respond to all telephone calls from concerned deed holders and have met with several individuals including Carly Stone.

At last night’s Parish Council meeting the council agreed to extend the deadline until at least May whilst we work with the community to find a resolution which is respectful of all the families who visit the cemetery.

The Clerk telephoned Carly Stone this morning and explained the outcome of the Council meeting and agreed to keep her informed. A meeting will be held in May as part of our commitment to work with the community to find a way forward.  Information about the meeting will be published on the Parish Council website and noticeboard.

Sileby Parish Council would like to reiterate that it was not our intention to cause upset or distress, and that we are keen to have a mutually acceptable outcome to all parties concerned.
